TUNEX TX-1540D1 & TX-1540D2 15 INCH 4000W RMS COMPETITION SUBWOOFER
4000W RMS. 600 OZ MOTOR. ±25 MM PLUS EXCURSION. BUILT FOR EXTREME BASS.
The Tunex TX-1540 Series is built for serious SPL systems and high power bass builds where ordinary subwoofers simply are not enough.
Rated at 4000W RMS and 8000W MAX, the TX-1540 combines a massive 600 oz strontium ferrite motor structure, 3 inch 8 layer flat aluminium voice coil, Kevlar reinforced cone and heavy duty 5 spider suspension system.
This is not designed as a basic daily driver bass upgrade.
It is built for enthusiasts who want extreme output, serious cone movement and the ability to handle massive amplifier power.
4000W RMS POWER HANDLING
The TX-1540 is rated at an enormous:
4000W RMS
8000W MAX
Handling this level of power requires far more than simply fitting a large voice coil.
The complete motor, suspension, cone and cooling structure has been designed around demanding high power operation.
At the centre is a 3 inch 8 layer flat aluminium voice coil, designed to handle the thermal demands created during extreme bass playback.
WHEN THE SYSTEM GETS SERIOUS, YOUR SUBWOOFER NEEDS TO BE BUILT FOR IT.
MASSIVE 600 OZ MOTOR STRUCTURE
The TX-1540 uses four 230 mm strontium ferrite magnets creating a huge 600 oz magnet structure.
This powerful motor provides the force required to drive and control the heavy duty 15 inch moving assembly.
For high output bass, motor strength matters.
A powerful motor helps the subwoofer maintain control while moving large amounts of air under extreme conditions.
BIG POWER NEEDS A BIG MOTOR BEHIND IT.
±25 MM PLUS EXCURSION
Bass is created by moving air.
The TX-1540 features a Mega Roll multilayer foam surround designed to support more than ±25 mm of excursion.
That level of cone movement gives the subwoofer serious displacement capability when combined with its large 15 inch cone.
The result is the potential for extreme low frequency output and physical bass impact when the subwoofer is installed in a properly designed system.
MORE CONE MOVEMENT. MORE AIR MOVEMENT. MORE BASS.
KEVLAR REINFORCED CONE
Extreme excursion requires a cone that can remain strong under pressure.
The TX-1540 uses a Kevlar reinforced non pressed cone designed to combine rigidity with the characteristics required for demanding subwoofer applications.
The reinforced cone helps maintain structural control while the subwoofer is operating at high output levels.
5 PIECE SPIDER SYSTEM
Keeping the moving assembly controlled becomes increasingly important as power and excursion increase.
The TX-1540 uses a 5 piece polycotton spider system to provide heavy duty suspension support.
The spider assembly works together with the Mega Roll surround to help control the voice coil and cone throughout demanding movement.
EXTREME OUTPUT IS USELESS WITHOUT CONTROL.
3 INCH 8 LAYER FLAT ALUMINIUM VOICE COIL
The 3 inch 8 layer flat aluminium voice coil is built for serious power handling.
Its design focuses on:
• High thermal capability
• Low moving weight
• High power handling
• Reliable operation during demanding playback
Heat is one of the biggest enemies of high power subwoofers.
The TX-1540 motor assembly also incorporates a heatsink design to assist with thermal management and help reduce performance loss caused by excessive heat.
HEAVY DUTY DIE CAST ALUMINIUM BASKET
A subwoofer this powerful needs a rigid structure supporting it.
The TX-1540 uses a die cast aluminium basket with Tunex's distinctive blue finish.
The rigid basket provides a strong foundation for the motor, suspension and cone assembly while helping maintain alignment during high excursion operation.
10 GAUGE DIRECT CONNECT SPEAKER LEADS
When thousands of watts are involved, every part of the electrical path matters.
The TX-1540 features 10 Gauge direct connect speaker leads designed for high current connections between the amplifier and voice coils.
This removes the need for small conventional speaker terminals in an extreme power application.
CHOOSE YOUR IMPEDANCE
The TX-1540 is available in two voice coil configurations, allowing you to choose the version that best suits your amplifier and complete system design.
TX-1540D1
Dual 1 Ohm Voice Coil
Typical single subwoofer wiring options:
0.5 Ohm Parallel
2 Ohm Series
TX-1540D2
Dual 2 Ohm Voice Coil
Typical single subwoofer wiring options:
1 Ohm Parallel
4 Ohm Series
Choosing the correct version is extremely important when designing a multiple subwoofer system.
MATCH THE SUBWOOFER IMPEDANCE TO THE AMPLIFIER BEFORE YOU BUILD.

WHO IS THE TX-1540 BUILT FOR?
This subwoofer is designed for customers building serious systems such as:
• Competition SPL systems
• Extreme high output bass builds
• Multiple subwoofer installations
• High power demonstration vehicles
• Large custom ported enclosures
• Systems using several thousand watts of amplifier power
• Bass enthusiasts wanting extreme physical output
If you only want a simple upgrade over factory bass, this is probably more subwoofer than you need.
THE TX-1540 IS BUILT FOR THE CUSTOMER WHO ALREADY KNOWS THEY WANT SOMETHING EXTREME.
THE ENCLOSURE IS CRITICAL
A 4000W RMS competition subwoofer cannot simply be installed into any large box.
Enclosure design will have a major effect on:
• Maximum output
• Frequency response
• Cone control
• Port velocity
• Mechanical reliability
• Power handling
• How the bass actually sounds
For competition and extreme output systems, enclosure volume, port area, tuning frequency and available cabin space should be calculated as part of the complete build.
THE SUBWOOFER PROVIDES THE CAPABILITY. THE ENCLOSURE DETERMINES HOW YOU USE IT.
4000W RMS NEEDS SERIOUS ELECTRICAL SUPPORT
A system capable of delivering thousands of watts continuously needs an electrical system capable of supporting it.
Depending on the number of subwoofers and amplifiers being used, your build may require:
• Large OFC power cable
• Multiple cable runs
• Upgraded battery capacity
• High output alternator
• Big 3 electrical upgrade
• High current fuse protection
• Quality distribution hardware
• Proper grounding
• Voltage monitoring
Trying to run an extreme amplifier from an inadequate electrical system can result in voltage drop, clipping and reduced performance.
DO NOT BUILD A 4000W SUBWOOFER SYSTEM ON A 400W ELECTRICAL FOUNDATION.
AMPLIFIER MATCHING MATTERS
More amplifier power is not automatically better.
The amplifier should be selected according to:
Subwoofer impedance
Number of subwoofers
Final wired load
Available electrical power
Enclosure design
Intended use
A correctly designed system allows you to use the capability of the TX-1540 without relying on poor gain settings or uncontrolled clipping to create output.
WHY CHOOSE THE TUNEX TX-1540?
Because some systems are not built to be subtle.
The TX-1540 combines massive power handling, extreme excursion, a huge motor structure and competition focused construction for enthusiasts who want to build at the serious end of car audio.
